Dr. David Bazett-Jones
Chair and Professor | Department of Health and Human Performance | High Point University
Dr. Bazett-Jones studies how and why running injuries happen—especially in young athletes. He focuses on how the body moves, how muscles work, and how training can affect injury risk. He’s passionate about helping runners stay healthy and perform their best.
Charli Montalvo
Exercise Science B.S. | Pre-Physical Therapy Track | Undergraduate Researcher | DI Cross Country/Track & Field Athlete for High Point University
Charli is from Waxhaw, North Carolina and went to Cuthbertson High School. She has been passionate about sports her whole life and discovered a love for long-distance running in middle school, which led her to compete at the college level. After dealing with injuries herself, Charli is driven to help others better understand and prevent them. She plans to pursue a career in Physical Therapy to support others in their healing journey.


Jak Kilzi
Exercise Science B.S. | Pre-Physical Therapy Track | Undergraduate Research | Biomechanics Student Instructor
Jak is from Concord, North Carolina and went to Jay M Robinson High School. He is on the Executive Committee for the Pre-PT Club and plays club soccer at HPU. His goal is to assist athletes in not just returning to their pre-injury state, but also surpassing it. Another goal of his is to create protocols for athletes to help prevent the occurrence of injuries.
Brooke Banazek
Exercise Science B.S. | Pre-Physical Therapy | Undergraduate Researcher | Personal Trainer
Brooke is from Richmond, Virginia and attended Cosby High School. She is the goalie on High Point’s club soccer team. She has played sports her whole life and has a driven commitment to aid in athletes' rehabilitation from injury. Her goal is to incorporate mental and physical rehabilitation while guiding athletes back to play!
